Tales from my previous life
I remember very little of my fifteen year marriage but I remember my ex-husband, Dan, Very well.
I heard a story of a group of mountain climbers, very high up in the frozen snow.
Someone slipped and fell, his friend remembers him falling backward at an ever increasing rate of speed.
Those were his words, so clinical, I thought.
I've been divorced for five years and I still grieve, not necessarily for Dan,
but more for my broken marriage and family.
The pain is less but still there.
When I try to look back at it, I see Dan in a frozen white background, falling backward at an ever increasing rate of speed.
